Assalamualaikum and Good Afternoon...
This week, is Dr Kamal turn and its the last class for ESE. This week, Dr Kamal taught us about Digital Electronic and Binary Numbers.First, the Digital Electronic, its present as signal in analog levels. its have the value of 1 and 0 only.
They are usually made for logic gates and simple electronic. After brief explanation about digital electronic, Dr Kamal give us binary exercise that is between 1 and 0 and convert it to normal number or vice versa.
This class give us some information about the binary numbers and how its changed..
That All for this time and Thank you..

Electrical Class and Sayonara En.Redzuan
Assalamualaikum and very good evening to readers out there...
This time, the class start with one hour of completing and finishing the circuit given to us... As last week, my circuit is already in good shape and its light up like it suppose to,how this time, my double sided circuit gone haywire.. i dont know what happen as the connection is same with the last time and nothing is wrong with it. It sad to not able to submit both of the circuit even though the other circuit is perfectly working. in one hour, i try to fix it but the problem still there... finish the one hour, En. Redzuan start the class of electrical.
The topic is how electricity is generated in Malaysia and what is Malaysia using(phase). First, Malaysian electric source is from Hydro generator, Gas, Coal and Oil. But now, Malaysia is most depend on the Hydro. En. Redzuan said, if there is a chance, he want to make a visit to a dam in Kelantan where the bus can enter near the turbine(mean we can see how it works!). Next, phase...Phase, there are 3 type of phase that is Red, Yellow and Blue. There are two mode, star and delta mode(dont know right or not) which at star mode, there are neutral.
Then, En Redzuan talk about the circuit breaker, the ELCB(Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) and RCCB(Residual-Current Circuit Breaker). For home, we using the ELCB and for industry, they using RCCB, for more information on the ELCB and RCCB you can visit Earth_leakage_circuit_breaker and Residual-current_device .
After finish with the electrical briefing part, En Redzuan then start with the demonstration of the assembling the lamp for our practical. For your information, we have to divide into group and each one have 2 person. Then he start explaining on how to cut the wire the correct way, how to connect the wire to the lamp, and much more.
He also show how to connect the plug extension and check whether the things is connected or not..hest test it using his own made buzzer.. After that, the class finish...
15/12/2011 - Sayonara En. Redzuan
The last class with En. Redzuan, we have an assessment on assembling the extension and the fluorescent lamp(dc and ac) connection.
Before we start the assessment, once again En Redzuan showed us how to assemble the part. After that, its the time that we do it on our own. Syahmi and I form the group and start doing the job. Im doing the lamp and Syahmi take over the extension. Its my first time assembling the lamp and its quite slow.. Never mind of that my lamp housing is not good because its already break at the connector but still usable.. After finish asembling the lamp, i try to turn on it but its not on..at the same time the other group also try to on the lamp but not successful...Then the room is short..however, i check my lamp connection and all is correct, then i try again and by adjusting the lamp a little bit at its connector, and then, its light up..After that, syahmi finish with the extension, after few test and inspection by En.Redzuan, we go on with DC... The DC connect directly and we finish it successfully..
After that, its time to back and time to say goodbye to En.Redzuan as its the last class with him for this semester.. That all..Thank you..

Canon and Board Assembling!
Assalamualaikum and very good morning! Its Saturday, right? heheh... :)
Today, im going to write about my experience on our Industrial Visit to Canon Opto SDN BHD.
The visit was plan by my Fellow friend, Luqman, as its a requirement to have an Industrial Visit for ESE courses. The journey start from KSJ, at 7.30 a.m.. Its 6 of December 2011. Escorting us for the visit is all the lecturer from ESE course that is Dr Kamal, En Redzuan and Mr Rasli.
The journey to reach there take about 1 hour as we reach there at 9 a.m. . After out from the bus, Dr Kamal distributed a paper that give briefly what should we have do and the timetable of the visit. Next, photograph session with canon people and then straight to the Hall. The introduction by Canon Opto, the brief history of Canon and the development in the factory. From what i get, there is two part in the Canon Opto, that is department of Lens and i dont quite remember the other one, But both operation differently with one is making a case for a lens and one is making the lens itself.
The first one we go to Surface Mount Technology section where all small part were assembly and soldered. Its large and the working environment seem to be quite not busy because the flood affecting the Thailand has tremendously reduce the amount of the part of the component needed.
After the explanation, we went to department where camera and lens were assemble. Here, we are required to wear anti static plastic on our shoes and to prevent dust on dirt from the shoes fall off in the factory. Before entering the room, i peek around and see QA(quality analysis) room ,were people work to inspect what is the defect on the camera that have return to them. They likely working on group to manage it.
Next, the person in charge brought us into the deep of the factory, ____I will update the flow later, as my note book missing___ ...In the factory, we can only see but restricted to touch anything of the component. The machine used is really advanced and the workforce is really great as people focus and concentrate on their work 100%.
The people in charge of our group said that, before they can work there, they will be given 3 month training on how to assembly the component and if the people mastered it, they can continue to training on other component assembling as they can improve their skill for a better position of job. The also RO(replacement operator) that has learn all the skill that is needed in the factory to replace someone if there is emergency.
Reaching the final stage of the visit in the department, we can see and touch as well as use the new produced camera, and there is NSC stand for Normal, Semi and Critical. Its for the part-part of the component assembling in the camera.
After finishing the visit on the camera department, we went to Lens Department were we can see how lens get from Thailand get remount and reshape. However, as i told you, the effect of Thailand's Flood is really significant, mostly, the lens department also on hold. We only managed to see a few people working.
Coming to the end of the Visit, there is Q & A session were i ask them is there any research centre for Canon in Malaysia. They answered me , there is initiative for it but end with failure. I am quite disappointed with it because if we have the research centre, it will be more interesting to see how the lens been altered.
However, the visit is great and i feel some field in Canon Opto are connect with our courses. Thank you.
Next Class--- Board Assembling
This is the second part after the first one board assembling that is required amount of time.. This time, En Redzuan ask us if we want to do another circuit but i refused to do so because i'm successfully make the board to work. Syahmi, Tew and I were the one who continue with the board given last time.
However, to kill my time, i try the first board that i done last time and try to make it work, even though the copper for the switch has fall off, i try to connect it and check if there is some error on it. The circuit successfully light up work as it supposed to. The weird is, for the second one, Firdaus, Mahmoud and Wee can be light up but not suppose to work like its should be, i try to look on it but i failed to find what is the causes of it..
At the end of the class, we all managed to finish the circuit and its should be submitted on 13 December 2011.
As i feel really satisfied that my circuit work, i feel sympathize with the one who solder it but its not work, because, the effort to solder the SMD is really tiring because we need to focus on the eyes and on the board. This is where patient is needed really-really much. That All.. Thank you

The Mark and Board Making...
Assalamualaikum and Very good day of Friday..The leader of the days..
Dont you feel weird why i put The Mark first and its even in the title?
Because today Dr Kamal came into our class and he showed us the our class mark. Well, what i can say, overall of the class is good but me? Not really good. It must be slack in some way such as late journal publish maybe.. But that for the first half of the semester and the next half? I'm going to score it and not to take it easy...
After Dr Kamal show the mark, i think i wanna to meet up with him to do something about the score but time is constraining me.
However, let that matter side for right now, let focus on the board making. Before the day of the board making, En Redzuan show us the way to create the board by showing the video of the board making. The first one is, after designing and printing the schematic, the procedure to make a PCB start. A good site for references.Create-Printed-Circuit-Boards and homemade-pcbs . Credicted Homemade Pcbs for the picture..
First, make sure to use what board to use, either the single sided or the double sided board.
After decided board for the suitable schematic, the its come to UV ray to make the schematic on the board..
Next, developing the circuit using the sodium solution that tear of the green layer of the PCB. To do this, we need to concentrate and cannot wandering around because, if we do it too long, even the schematic also can be wipe out.
After the developing, the etching come in, that is using acid Feric Chloride. its to remove the copper layer that not going to be use. Etching consume some time.
After that, we can choose to drill or to cut the board. The process of cutting is simple but the process of drilling need some precision on it. if not, then the board drill is not good.
Finally, the process of soldering the board with the component. The soldering part is very cautious work because if we dont, the copper gonna come out or the solder paste will be looking ugly and the component will not attach properly. Some references for soldering.. Soldering..
Next Class - Making Our Board
On the next class, we need to practice what have we watch before. The time given is 3 hours but with the numbers of people in our class, that is not enough, However, Mr Redzuan came up with a plan by dividing the student into a group. Syahmi and I were in one group and we make the second board first, after the procedure done till drilling the PCB, the time already at 4.45 p.m. and i'm just soldering the first board and even then, didn't manage to finish it up and Mr Redzuan said that is okay to bring it to hostel.
Overall its a Hectic and Tiring even tedious day because of the tension and stress feel when youre the first timer to do that but i have to forced my self and not to be a spoiled student and work harder! Thank you.

Multisim and Ultiboard : Fighto!
Assalamualaikum and very good friday to all of you!
Do you know why i put the title as like that?
Because, yesterday, we have been tested with a test on Multisim and Ultiboard..
Its very scary and yet, exciting. The test start but Mr Redzuan gave out a brief about the test and how its evaluated.
The Multisim test is quite okay but when it come to take value of the voltage/current, there is some problem as i didnt get the exact value, it just fluctuated but i just the value that is when the diode light up.
After finishing the Multisim, i export the schematic to Ultiboard, and start designing. The problem came up after i design, the board is not well merge and need to use so many jumper that ruin the board and take a load of time and its wasting my time, i have to create another design just to make it better,.
The ultiboard, however completed without DRC and its quite an achievement for me i thought...
After a stressful exam, i feel relieved that my lab pc didnt create problem because Syahmi and Firdaus pc on ultiboard, hang and creating problem, Syahmi, it quit unexpectedly and Firdaus, it didnot responding and forcing him to quit. If its me, i think its really frustrating but Alhamdulillah, such thing not happen to me but i feel sorry to them.
With what happen, i think the maintenance people should check the pc regularly and fix that one that is broken down.
Lastly, to all reader, the advise that i can give out is to be prepared for what ever that will happen to you and you have to overcome it with your own way. Thank you!

Designing - Ultiboard!
Assalamualaikum and very good evening to the readers out there..
Before continuing our lesson on Ultiboard, he test us to carry out another schematic by using different instrument and its was smoothly done by all of us..
Then, he continue the lesson on how to use the Ultiboard. After exporting the circuit schematic from the Multisim, it will generated at Ultiboard with the component that has been put on the schematic. Then, He start to teach us on howto design a board, not with the normal one that is rectangular in shape but with different and unique design of board. The design is created by our own using our own creativity.
After using the shape tool here come more complicated part of designing in Ultiboard, placing the component on the board. By placing the component, we now need to route it and check for its error. Its tiring and we need to concentrate because if we dont, then the component located is bad.
Before this, we dont know how to solely selecting the component and just select all the component but he taught us on how to use the panel and use it to place component single and how to modified the wire routed by auto route and fix the DRC...
He then introduced us the jumper for the board that was created separately by using the jumpers.
That is my board, and as the caption said, the green one is the connected wire one and the red one is need some alteration to make it work. The red will show up in the DRC list.
That the design that was successfully turn into 3D, if there is some problem with the design, the will a popup told that the shape on something lese is out off bound and it will create weird image.
Before i forgot, he also teach us on how to put the component up the board or below the board. There is layer that decide whether it should be up or down. By using this, its to avoid the DRC and make the PCB design more simpler and usable.
That all what i learn from the lesson of Ultiboard. What i can conclude here, to be a designer of a PCB, we need a lot of patient and must be very focus on it. Get involve with the spirit of designing! Thank you.

Designing - Multisim!
Assalamualaikum and very great day to all of readers out there!
This time, its Multisim Lesson. Mr Redzuan the one who taught us. The Multisim is the software to design the circuit outline or the schematic of the circuit. Its very interesting lesson because we can learn to create a board.
He told us that using multisim is easier and more user friendly that other software. After that, he started the lesson by telling us to switch on the computer and start the multisim program.
Here come the hard part as we are the first timer using the program and i just follow what he told. first he told us about the database.. There are three database that is Master Database, Corporate Database and User Database. He told us to use the Master Database as it have all of component.
He then told us to go to basic component where common component such as Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor and Switch is there. Then, its the Diode, Indicator(where buzzer, lamp situated) and lastly source where battery located.
Next, he told us follow the circuit that he show through the projector. I managed to find all of the component and finished it on time. He then told us to simulate the circuit to test it, It first with the Buzzer and then the LED.
Nearly Finish the class, he show us how to export it to Ultiboard, where designing becoming more realistic, that is on on board. He show us that image generated by the ultiboard in 3D. Before we can transfer the component, En Redzuan told us that you should check if there is virtual component or not.
This is my circuit:
Next Class, Mr Redzuan told something more interesting to be learn and its the Ultiboard!
I hope it would enhance my skill and this multisim already show some part of the engineering and i wish more thing i learn toward of a great engineer.

Mr. Rasli Abd Ghani's Class
Assalamualaikum and very good day of Friday..
To readers out there, the class was taken over by Mr Rasli for a day... He is nice and kind and he said its gonna be a disscussion lecture...
Some Mr. Rasli quote that are really meaningful is " Devices make a system".
Then Mr Rasli show the outline of what he going to taught us.
Its Basic Electronic Components, OLED, FPGA, Power Electronic, and Integrated Circuit..
The First one is Basic Electronic Components. Its already explain by Mr Redzuan, so i think i dont need to explain it further.
The Second one is OLED.. This also have been discussed on our first lecture that was an open lecture by a Professor Dr Junji Kido from Japan. However, there is no post about it and i will write its some of the Mr Rasli taught us. OLED is short form Organic Light Emitting Diode. The OLED is made from placing a series of organic thin films between two conductors. it can be used for display and light. Now its been used widely on TV, Phone display and even the Prof Junji Kido try to make it a effective efficient light. The OLED also can be made flexible.
The Third one is FPGA that is Field Programmable Gate Array. Its an integrated circuit that can be program. When Mr. Rasli want to talk about the FPGA, in my mind, i thought about PGA and LGA that have been used by Intel and AMD, and its quite similar. However, the FPGA is the more simpler Gate Array. FPGA contain 64 to 10k identical logic cell that can be viewed as simple component.

After that, its about Power Electronic. The Power Electronic define in wiki as application of solid state electronic and electric conversion. The electric conversion is involving Alternating and Direct Current. Its class base its output.
Lastly, the Intergrated Circuit(IC) is a small electronic device that made of semiconductor material. IC are used widely for microprocessor, audi and video component and much more..
That all for the class that have been conducted by Mr Rasli..

Presentation Day
Assalamualaikum and Good day for the reader out there!
Yesterday was a group presentation for the introduction of electronic for section 2...
Its was nervous break down and really-really hectic on the environment...
The first group to present is Umar's group that pair up with Firdaus. They are talking about 3D glasses. The topic is already hard and they managed to explained it. Somehow, there is some problem with their slide that is wording are can be say much than its needed..That make them cannot cope up with the time they supposed to..The time taken is nearly half an hour...

The next group is Zainor's Group that work with Mahmoud and Wee. They are presenting the Hard Disk and Solid State Drive. With 3 head, how come if their presentation is a flaw.. The presentation was good but the explanation somehow have problem because i saw some of the people dont really knowabout the topic.. The time also passed than they should be..
After Zainor's group, here its come Syahmi's group that paired up with me. We are talking about the 4G Wireless. Our group have problem with the video presented because its too much, the information given is sufficient i think and mostly the video have somehow summarize up all the thing we have say. Our group also cannot catch up with the time but i think we can if we reduce the number of the video.
After that, the coming group is from the female department.. They presenting about the remote control, pendrive, laptop and hologram. The remote control show the part that makes the remote control. The pendrive group also bring in the real thing..The laptop give brief explanation what made up of laptop.. However the hologram group have some problem because they kinda blur what electronic part in it.
The last group finished with the presenting and Dr Kamal give some comment and said that its good for the first timer and can be improved in lots of way and he said that, it can might lead to a second presentation..
However, Dr Kamal is not satisfied with our timing that all of the group is exceeding the time limit which is 10 minutes per group.
I also have some comment to write because i think its needed. From my perspective, mostly our presentation is explaining the technology not what how the electronic part function in the device, what the law is use, what is the thing made up and much more. Maybe its because of the unclear and confusing thinking of our ownself.
I hope that i can improve a lot for the next challenging future... Thank you for reading my humble blog post..

Testing and Practical Week
Assalamualaikum and very good morning to all readers..
Last week, We learn how to measure the capacitor, resistor, and diode..This week, we learned another thing such transistor and light emitting diode(LED).
Even though last week we already learned how to use the multimeter, this time we learned how to measure using the multipurpose meter which can identify most of the non-charged thing..
That All.. thank you..

ESE Practical
Assalamualaikum and very good evening....(Update more later..)
This week class teach a new thing..New Lecturer and He is En. Ahmad Redzuan bin Mohd Hanapiah,
the first day,we get to know each other and mister Redzuan also discuss with us about our time table.. He said we need atleast 14 weeks to cover the lesson, however, we have only 4 weeks to finish it. Hurm... That surprisingly hard to do but we manage to build a timetable that we try to cover all of it. Then, we learn some of the equipment in the lab and what its purpose for...That the class for Tuesday on 11/10/2011..
Next Class, which is on the same week but on 13/10/2011, there we learn more interesting things such how to read the color on the resistor, how to calculate the colour mean and we also do some practical to test it..Very-very good and i thinks its a good practical..We got to see the demonstration of overloaded capacitor..
Thank You..

Week of Judgement...
Assalamualaikum and a very good evening to everyone..(This post will be update later)
Last week lecture, its all about the marks and what a re the requirement to get good mark..
Dr. Kamal showed to us some of the blog form the student that are good.. Yes the blog citation is good and with the addition of the picture make the blog better...
Dr. Kamal want all of us to take that blog as example because the blog was exceed the expectation. So, to meet the expectation, listen, read, give a thought of what is the lecture about and research of it would be a better way...
This lecture showing us how to get the mark and what make us losing the mark, of course we want the best mark right? But to get the good mark, there is effort for it. Its not writing long but there are no point at all or nonsense in it, but to cite and learn it... EFFORT, you cannot just do it but figure it out because if something wrong occur such as you do not get good result from what you do at your fullest energy, there must something wrong somewhere as i read one of the article that is from http://www.dailyblogtips.com/too-much-effort-and-no-progress-something-is-wrong-there/. Its says that if something is not progressing well, check on the problem that might cause it...
Effort also linked with Hard Work...

Hand Of Hard Work |
Hard Work is to use great effort in getting something done..Quote taken from http://www.values.com/hard-work
Now i will talk on about presentation... Dr Kamal ask us to create an article on our first presentation... but that not what i want to talk but rather to focus on how to make a good presentation.. from the little research i made(Searching around the internet) i found some good site that show us how to make a good presentation,
and the wrap of it are think what should you say beforehand. The website is http://www.rogerdarlington.me.uk/Presentation.html
This is some video i found good example of planning and get ready for presentation...
As conclusion, writing our own word is not hard but its some effort and hard work...
Thank you

Second Week of ESE
Assalamualaikum and Good Evening to all readers, we meet again!
This time, i will story about the next lecture given out on 29 September 2011 and its lectured by Dr Kamal..
This week lecture are about 5S, Course Learning Outcome 4 and UTM Graduates Attributes and Generics skills.
Firstly, i want to talk about the 5S. The 5S are about cleanliness attitudes.. Its originated from Japan, and the 5S stand for Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke. Those have its own meaning. You can see it below..
Next, Course Learning Outcome 4,
and its expecting taxanomy bloom, generic skill and build up second nature as well as self confidence..
In part of Learning Outcome 4, there is essence of belief...the objective learning is between to serve or to earn, Dr Kamal ask us to discuss with each other and choose between it..
The result...
There a Hadith show by Dr Kamal too :
The last one is UTM Graduates Attributes and Generics skills. There are 7.
and :
-Communication Skills
-Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
-Teamworking Skills
-Information Management and Lifelong Learning Skills
-Entrepreneurship Skills
-Leader Skills and Proactiveness
-Ethics and Intergrity
Thank you for reading...
I will try to update after this...

Beginning of Electronic System Engineering (ESE)
Assalamualaikum and a very nice day to all reader out there.
Lastly, he given out some questionnaire to us to determine the level of our understanding....
Thank you to Dr Kamal for the interesting yet mesmerizing lecture that day..
There are some thought of ESE of me after entering the lecture and its were
1. Do we have a chance to create our own device?
2. Can we see the live demonstration of the device in making?
I hope i will be the best engineer and increase my discipline to archieve it.
Last week, on 22 September 2011, the lecture of ESE have started. Dr Muhamad Kamal Mohammed Amin was the one who was giving out the lecture. With the background of Japanese knowledge, he put some of the kanji/japanese language in each of his slide..
That was very interesting and he also introduced us, what is Electronic System . The Electronic System is very wide in our life, some it also applied already in the car system which is more toward mechanical but now its related to electronic which is the auto cruise system..

Dr also explaining the outcome and the benefit of the electronic system engineering course and targeting that we should become the best person in skill after completing the course..He stressed on the Outcome Based Education(OBE) which now were integrated into our university and also others..
Next, the video of ROBERT VS SUSAN.. Its an interesting video and the moral value are indeed useful. The video showing 2 different people in their attitude and the type of teacher(teacher's level). From what i have watched, Dr Kamal want us to be Susan, not Robert. The story of Robert and Susan, we can watch it here Robert VS Susan .
